Weddings

A wedding is more than a milestone or a party. For Christians, a wedding is a worship service—a gathering before God to make solemn vows, to hear His Word, and to celebrate His grace. If you are planning a wedding on Oʻahu, I am glad to help you craft a ceremony that is simple, clear, and centered on Jesus.

How I Can Serve You

If you need a pastor to officiate your wedding, here is what I can do—and what you can expect:

Initial Conversation  I will meet with you (in person or by phone/video) to hear your story, answer questions, and talk through what a Christ-centered ceremony looks like.

Premarital Counseling (Required): Every couple I marry must complete premarital counseling. You are welcome to do this with me, or with another trusted Christian pastor or counselor. I can provide a recommended outline and resources if you are doing it elsewhere.

Leading the Ceremony: I will lead the service (the ceremony) itself—Scripture readings, prayers, vows, brief homily, and the pronouncement of marriage. The ceremony can be held in a church, home, backyard, park, or beach with proper permissions. (To avoid confusion: I do not lead musical worship or provide music. If you want congregational singing or other music, please arrange that separately.)

After the Ceremony: I will complete and submit the required Hawaii marriage paperwork after the service is performed, so your record is filed properly.

What You Will Arrange

To keep things simple and focused, I provide time and leadership of the ceremony only. Couples are responsible to arrange:

  • Venue/location and any permits (for public spaces like beaches/parks).
  • Music, instruments, sound system, and musicians.
  • Photography/Videography and livestreaming.
  • Décor, florals, seating, and coordination.
  • Scheduling your marriage license appointment and paying related state fees

If you’d like, I can share a short list of trusted local vendors/ideas, but coordination is yours.

The Heart of a Christian Wedding

A Christian wedding is a worship service. We come before God to affirm that marriage is His design, that the gospel is our hope, and that our vows rest on His faithfulness more than our own strength. In the ceremony, we hear God’s Word, make promises, pray for help, and rejoice that Christ loves His bride, the Church (Ephesians 5). When Jesus is at the center, the ceremony is both joyful and weighty—in the best possible way.

How to Get a Marriage License in Honolulu (Hawai‘i)

Hawai‘i’s process is straightforward:

  1. Apply online with the Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH), then pay the fee and note your authorization/locator code.
  2. Meet together in person with a license agent (no more than 30 days before your ceremony). Bring valid photo IDs; the agent verifies your application and issues the license.
  3. Have your ceremony within 30 days of picking up the license (no waiting period; license is valid only in Hawai‘i).

Honorarium

I do require an honorarium for weddings. Please contact me for details. I keep this simple and reasonable—especially compared to most wedding vendor costs—so the focus can stay on the covenant you’re making before God.
